It is the most important stage of processing. Sgorbati supplies grading machines for both small and large asparagus producers. The first step for companies wishing to mechanize the grading process is to equip themselves with a circular grader for asparagus; it is an ideal machine for farms that cultivate up to 3ha, and which allows, with a single operator, to wash, cut and select asparagus in 4 calibers, depending on the diameter.
For larger companies it is advisable to consider electronic graders for asparagus which can have from 12 to 120 outlets; these always include: washing, with water recirculation, cut (up to 3 cutting groups, to optimize all the required processes, e.g. the tips), and calibration, carried out with 1 or 2 cameras (the second camera, optional, dedicated to the shoot) that allow you to analyze up to 9 parameters.
It can be carried out either at the same time as the calibration, through plates, positioned under the cups, which warn, by means of lights, the operators as soon as the set weight is reached, or with a special machine, which optimizes the combinations of asparagus inside the bunch, minimizing excess weight.

The top of the range is definitely the Gub Buncher which, through 2 or 4 heads, delicately places elastic bands that are cut to size at the moment. Also the string tying line, through the soft box, is able to optimize the tension, based on the diameter of the bunch, avoiding damage to the asparagus, or unsightly marks.
A separate mention for the banderoling machine, which allows to use both paper and plastic bands, in different lengths, heights and thicknesses. This machine can be used as a stand-alone, or as part of a fully automated line.
Asparagus are a particularly valuable vegetable, being offered on the market at a price per kg significantly higher than that of most other vegetables. Nevertheless it is possible, through specific processes, to further increase their value.
This is the case of the precious tips, obtained by cutting most of the asparagus stem, using a special trimmer, which reduces the final length to 8-10 cm.
White asparagus deserves a separate mention, as they need to be peeled before being eaten; therefore, if the need is to carry out further processing, it is necessary to have a dedicated machine, such as the asparagus peeler.
